Here is my homily from August 19, 2018, 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B.
I realize that any words I could say are completely inadequate when it comes to the horrible evil of sexual abuse within the Church. Please continue to pray for the victims of abuse. Lord, have mercy.
Readings: Proverbs 9.1-6; Psalm 34; Ephesians 5.15-20; John 6.51-58 (See the readings at usccb.org.)
Thank u 4 not being afraid 2 address this issue. I work as a Corrections Officer & have worked with pedophiles. Sadly, the majority of those who abuse, were abused as youth. The Cycle of Abuse MUST STOP!
Thanks, Fr. Darryl, not easy to speak on, but necessary. I appreciate naming it for what it is, embracing the need for action, but ultimately pointing us back to Christ and Mary as our model for personal holiness as the individual path we each need to take.
