Here is my homily from October 16, 2011, 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A.
Readings: Isaiah 45.1,4-6; Psalm 96; 1 Thessalonians 1.1-5; Matthew 22.15-21
Sorry… listening to these homilies online doesn’t replace actually going to Mass on Sunday! Click here for the parish Mass schedule.
Was this your first homily on the new Roman Missal? I just gave my first homily this weekend as well! Great homily! Informative. I like the encouragement that it will help us become reengaged in our prayers that we may have learned to gloss over. What is the general reaction in your parishes? And here comes the question: are you going to kneel? Our Bishop has decided, kneel in parishes with kneelers and stand in parishes without. I hope this works…
Hehe, cool! It was my first one on the new translation… I guess good minds think alike or something like that? ;-) Change is never easy (especially for me!) but I think it’s going ok. The choirs for each of my 3 parishes agreed to use the same mass setting for a while (at least until next fall) so we can all get used to the new translation. The setting they chose is the one by Geoffrey Angeles. Should be fun!
I haven’t heard what will ultimately be happening here for the kneeling/standing issue. One of my parishes already kneels and the other two don’t, and one of those doesn’t have kneelers.
